The Truth
The RSPCA Assured scheme (originally named Freedom Food) was established in 1994 and has been in operation for 30 years. Over the past 16 years, there have been almost 100 undercover investigations by animal charities and organisations into RSPCA Assured farms and slaughterhouses.
All investigations into RSPCA Assured farms and slaughterhouses have exposed shocking and heart-breaking levels of animal cruelty.
All investigations have been reported to RSPCA Assured, and many investigations have received national media attention. While some investigations have led to farms and slaughterhouses being temporarily suspended from the Assured scheme, many are quietly reinstated soon after.
Despite public outrage at investigation footage and continued requests from animal charities and RSPCA board members for the RSPCA to drop the Assured scheme and promote a move away from farming animals, the RSPCA still hasn't done so.
